Dr. Shelly Gray, PharmD, MS, AGSF, FASCP, is currently a Professor and Endowed Director of the Plein Center for Geriatric Pharmacy Research, Education and Outreach at the University of Washington, School of Pharmacy. As the inaugural Director of the Plein Center, she oversees the mission to advance geriatric-related pharmacy education, research, and outreach to optimize older adults’ medication outcomes and promote healthy aging. She earned her PharmD from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Epidemiology from the University of Washington. She has expertise in pharmacoepidemiology and has published several studies evaluating the risks associated with medication use (e.g., anticholinergics, benzodiazepines) and important health outcomes, including falls, fractures, and dementia. She also conducts research in deprescribing and is currently co-leading a deprescribing clinical trial funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to reduce CNS-active medications to prevent falls and injuries in older adults.
