Senior Principal Scientist
Applied BioMath
Dr. Kapitanov received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University in 2012, developing an age-structured model of cancer cell proliferation and mutation acquisition. He did Visiting Assistant Professorships at Purdue and the University of Iowa, teaching Math and expanding his Mathematical Biology portfolio of projects, techniques, and areas. In 2017 he joined Pfizer Inc. as a modeler in their biologics preclinical translational modeling group. There he used mechanistic systems biology models to advise the discovery teams on target feasibility, lead development, and candidate selection. He also assisted the clinical pharmacology teams with efficacious and starting dose projections. He has since joined Applied BioMath as a modeler and project leader, further expanding his expertise in a wide variety of indications and therapeutic modalities.
