Leyanis Rodriguez Vera, Ph.D., M.Sc., BPharm, is a postdoctoral associate with Drs. Vozmediano and Schmidt at the Center for Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology at the University of Florida since 2021. She was a professor and researcher of pharmacokinetics and biopharmacy at the University of Havana, Cuba, for 17 years. Education: 2003 BSc Pharm degree (Summa Cum Laude, Gold Medal Honor List); 2006 Master in Sciences (MSc) degree in Clinical Pharmacy and 2015 Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Best Thesis in Natural Sciences, National Council of Scientific Degrees from Higher Education Ministry of Cuba). Research Experience: Since 2003, she has been performing over 15 research projects about pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modeling of different biological products in oncology from preclinical and clinical studies. Currently, she is working on the application of Physiological-based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling to answer different research questions such as drug-drug interactions, brain pharmacokinetics, and special populations. She has had presentations at more than 25 national and international scientific meetings and author of over 20 research articles in peer-reviewed journals. She received the Cuban Academy of Sciences Annual Prize in 2019 and Two Research Awards from the University of Havana, in the category of Young Professor more outstanding in the research and for the Results of Research in the Category of Scientific Work. She is a Member of the Iberoamerican Pharmacometrics Network (RedIF), the International Society of Pharmacometrics (ISoP), and recently of ASCPT.
