Translating QSP Modeling for All: Challenges in Communicating QSP

Session Description

The development of Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) has exploded in the past recent years, and QSP has become a useful modeling platform through the different stages of drug development. As a relatively new approach, QSP can elicit a wide range of reactions from different stakeholders, from enthusiasm to skepticism, or even hostility. Practitioners of QSP are constantly interacting and conveying our modeling results to different audiences, especially to important stakeholders with little quantitative background, which requires us to adapt our presentation styles and content accordingly. Effective strategies for communicating results, or “storytelling” in QSP modeling, are essential for the potential of QSP to be fully realized in drug development programs and building our credibility/reputation in a matrixed cross-functional environment – translating QSP modeling results in the context of clinical pharmacology to all.

Learning Objectives

1. Upon completion, participants will be able to describe the challenges faced by practitioners of QSP in communicating and engaging with different audiences/stakeholders to realize the full potential of QSP modeling in drug development.

2. Upon completion, participants of various backgrounds will be able to identify the contributions of QSP in different environments and at different stages of drug development.
