Application of Quantitative Pharmacology Approaches to Characterize the Influence of Age, Obesity, and Drug-Drug Interactions on Pharmacokinetics in the Pediatric Population
Dose optimization in the pediatric population requires evaluating differences in pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) relationships across human development. In addition, influential factors that impact drug disposition or response, and the degree of interindividual variability surrounding them, must be elucidated. Quantitative pharmacology approaches can be applied to characterize these sources of variability and perform dose optimization to promote the safe and effective use of drugs in children. This presentation will focus on the application of quantitative pharmacology approaches to characterize the influence of age, obesity, and drug-drug interactions on PK in the pediatric population.
