Long COVID (also called post-acute sequelae of COVID or PASC) has emerged as major public health threat following the pandemic. Patients with Long COVID (i.e., Long haulers) experience new, returning, or ongoing health problems weeks to months, or longer after infection. There are number of ongoing studies attempting to understand the extent of the impact of long COVID. Though treatments for Long COVID symptoms are slowly emerging, discovery and development of new treatments remain critically important. This session will educate and inform ASCPT Annual Meeting attendees about Long COVID through patient and provider experiences along with discussions of the current and future states by leading researchers in the field. Our patients include author and journalist Fiona Lowenstein and Lisa McCorkell,Co-founder of the Patient-Led Research Collaborative. Our physicians include Rasika Karnik,MD, University of Chicago School of Medicine, and Elizabeth Rutkowski, MD, Medical College of Georgia Augusta University Medical Center.
